Forest School
We are lucky enough to have a mature 'Forest School' area at the bottom of the school playing field, about 75 yards from the Puddleducks building. Our 'Forest School' is one of the best in Shropshire.
Over the past few years, staff and parents have developed this area, adding a mud pit, seating area with a pretend fire and a rope bridge.
Ofsted reported that Puddleducks Pre-School's Forest School was "excellent at developing children's physical development. That they have good opportunities to develop in this area by rolling down the bank, running through the willow arch, picking up small sticks and leaves, squeezing mud and scrunching up the natural materials in the wood."
Children who attend Puddleducks Pre-School on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons put on waterproof clothing and tramp down to the forest. Once there, they splash in the mud, pull logs around, make bark rubbings and climb trees, all under the close supervision of our highly qualified staff.
After about half an hour of playing, it's time for a well-earned biscuit and a story around the 'campfire'. Then it's onto a group activity such as making mud hedgehogs, identifying leaves or tackling an obstacle course.
Puddleducks Pre-School will provide your child/children with full waterproof clothing. All you have to do is ensure they have wellies and clothes that fully cover their arms and legs so they don't get scratched.
